Utilization of Non-Contacting Radar for timely Inventory Accounting
This subject relates to an improvement achieved at a Citrus Juice Plant on their Inventory Control System. Financial accounting requires a quarterly inventory assessment which was previously done with a combination of manual and instrumented level measurements. The uncertainty of inventory levels resulted in multiple verification checks to get right. Additional overtime for maintenance personnel assisting management with level and volume determination was expensive and prolonged. The Rosemount solution enabled the plant to get the same level of accuracy in a fraction of the time.

Power Plant CEMS Remote Monitoring of Calibration Gas
Power plants are required to conduct Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEMS) on each Exhaust. The continuous monitoring is conducted utilizing an exact calibration gas mixture bottle that periodically needs replacing when empty. If allowed to run empty, all monitoring for that unit is stopped resulting in various fines and probation status for the plant. Use of standard instrumentation techniques has been difficult due to lack of signal and power cabling to the Control System. As a result manual measurement techniques have been attempted and proved less than optimal.
