2-162453 - Measuring Level in Dynamic Processes: Accurate Level on Boiling Freon achieved with Guided Wave Radar with Probe End Projection

Session Speakers
Session Description

Tallgrass Midstream has several facilities in the Powder River Basin of WY providing gathering and natural gas processing for the local oil and gas upstream industry. Controlling the inlet gas temperature with Freon proved difficult as the boiling nature of the Freon played havoc on existing float and sight glass technologies. After retrofit with a Magtech bridle and Rosemount 5302 guided wave radar with pre paid startup assistance, the Freon level readings are now reported as "flawless". Liquids production at the plant are now more predictable and consistent. Specific efficiency gains are currently being determined and will be provided at time of presentation.
